How it works

  1. Foot pressing the charging cable down into the TripFree rail

    Press the cable down

    The flexible industrial-rubber lid moves aside and closes around the cable by itself. Nothing to open or close.

  2. Pushchair wheel rolling over the charging cable in the TripFree rail

    Charge safely

    The cable lies flush with the pavement. Pedestrians, wheelchairs, pushchairs and bicycles can pass freely while the car is charging.

  3. AmpGo TripFree sidewalk rail without cable, closed and flush with the paving slab

    Pull it up again

    After charging, pull the cable up. The rail sits discreetly in the paving, flush with the pavement.

Can I install it?

The short answer: on private property, you can get started.

Private property

Driveway, carport or your own paved path: no permission required. Order the rail, mill the groove and glue it in place, or ask a tradesperson to do it.

Public pavement

Requires permission from your municipality. We have the application material ready, so you can send it directly to the municipality.

Frequently asked questions

Can cyclists, pushchairs and wheelchairs pass?
Yes. When the cable sits in the rail, it lies flush with the pavement, so pedestrians, wheelchair users, pushchairs and bicycles can pass freely, even while the car is charging.
Do I need permission from the municipality?
Only if the rail is to be installed in a public pavement. On private property (driveway, carport, your own paved path), no permission is required. For public pavement, we have the application material ready as a PDF, and several municipalities already receive applications. Rules may vary locally, so contact your municipality if in doubt.
Can I install the rail myself?
Yes, if you are used to using a router/cutter. A groove is milled into the paving, and the rail is glued in place with a strong standard adhesive. No paving slabs need to be lifted, and no casting is required. You can also hire a tradesperson for the job. AmpGo sells the rail itself and adhesive, not installation. Read the installation guide before ordering.
Can I drive over the rail with the car?
Yes. Cars can drive over the rail with the cable in it without damaging the cable. The cable is protected inside the rail, below tyre level.

Will the rail fit my pavement?
The rail is 2 metres long and can be shortened to fit the width of your pavement or driveway. The groove is 35 mm wide.
Was it not called Elby Sleeve before?
Yes. AmpGo TripFree was previously called Elby Sleeve sidewalk rail. It is the same product and solution, only the name is new.
