Examples of public installations
Two typical examples, from destination to street level.
Typical cases

FAQ: public charging stations
How to start a charge?
You can typically start charging in several ways:
- Card terminal (DC): Start charging and pay directly by debit card.
- QR code (AC): Scan the QR code and pay with a payment card (e.g. Visa or Mastercard). It doesn’t require that you download an app or create a user.
- Charging apps via roaming: In most cases, you can also start charging via your favorite charging app through roaming partners.
- Monta Charge: As a starting point, all our chargers use Monta Charge (recommended). Download Monta Charge
How do you pay at public charging stations?
You can pay by credit card at all our public charging stations:
You don’t need to download an app or create a user to pay via card terminal or QR code.
- DC sites: Payment by payment card via card terminal.
- AC sites: Payment by payment card via QR code (e.g. Visa or Mastercard). The QR code is typically shown as a sticker on the charging stand, or in the charging stand’s display. If there is a display, the QR code will often become visible when you press the display.
DC: payment via card terminal.
AC: QR code on display (visible when activating the display).
Can we start small and expand later?
Yes. We dimension the solution and location so that expansion is simple.
Who is responsible for operation and support?
It depends on the model. AmpGo can take responsibility for operation and support via agreement.
Should charging be public or restricted?
As a starting point in public places, the charging stations will be accessible to everyone.
In most cases, we can also make them available in different charging apps and maps, so drivers can start charging from their preferred charging app via roaming partners.
If you want charging to be limited to the public only (or during special periods), we take the dialogue case-by-case and find the right access model.
Should we choose AC (11/22 kW) or DC for public spaces?
A good rule of thumb is: If the cars typically last 3 hours or more, will one AC solution (11/22 kW) often be the best match. If the stay is typical under 3 hours, will one DC solution usually provide a better user experience because you get more power in less time.
We help you choose the right combination based on location, user flow and capacity.
How much current (A) does AC and DC require? (thumb examples)
It depends on the installation and available capacity, but as a rule of thumb (3-phase 400V):
- AC 11 kW: approx. 16A
- AC 22 kW: approx. 32A
- DC 50 kW: approx. 80A
- DC 150 kW: approx. 250A
- DC 300 kW: approx. 500A
For DC, the real requirements can vary (power factor/efficiency and grid connection), so we always do a capacity check before final dimensioning.
